Portkeys BM7 II DS 7″ 2200-nit SDI/HDMI Field Monitor

The Portkeys BM7 II DS is a 7-inch touchscreen on-camera monitor built on the BM5 III WR platform, with a larger screen and more I/O. The 1920 x 1080, 10-bit (8+2 FRC) panel reaches 2,200 nits with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and every unit is factory colour-calibrated to cover 100% of Rec.709 and 85% of DCI-P3. The all-aluminium housing has toughened glass over the display, 1/4″-20 mounting points with locating holes on the top and bottom, and weighs 460 g (16.2 oz).

Inputs are two 3G-SDI and one HDMI, with one HDMI output and one 3G-SDI output that cross-converts from HDMI. Both outputs can pass a clean feed or the image with a 3D LUT applied. Split-screen modes show two inputs at once, and a crop mode shows the same source in 16:9 and 9:16 side by side. Monitoring tools include Waveform with SDI output, Vectorscope, Histogram, Zebra, ARRI False Color, a user-defined false colour mode, Peaking with a frame mode, Log Stops, anamorphic de-squeeze from 0.25x to 4.0x, audio meters, image capture with overlay and custom JPG freeze frames.

The 2.4 GHz antenna gives wireless control of RED KOMODO and V-RAPTOR cameras (RED Approved) and many Sony models, with Bluetooth control for Blackmagic Pocket cameras and wired control for RED, Sony, Canon, Panasonic, BMD and ZCAM E2. A dedicated port runs TILTA Nucleus N/M motors, and the one-to-many system controls up to four compatible Portkeys monitors within 50 m. The monitor draws 15 W and takes power from dual hot-swap NP-F plates or 7.4V to 24V via 2-pin LEMO or locking 5.5 mm barrel. Contact CINEOM Broadcast FZCO for a quote or technical advice.

Yes. With two 3G-SDI inputs and one HDMI input, it can display two video inputs simultaneously in dual horizontal, dual vertical and mixed split-screen layouts.

Does it send video wirelessly?

No. The 2.4 GHz antenna and Bluetooth are for camera control. Video still enters through the HDMI or SDI inputs.

Can I hot-swap batteries?

Yes. The rear has dual Sony NP-F style plates and only one battery is needed to run the monitor at full power, so you can change one battery while the other keeps it running.

What is in the box?

The monitor, a screw-in DC power cable, a safety box, a micro USB flash drive, a Y-type wrench, a sunshade and left and right drop-proof rubber cases.
